This is a sample story, written to show how club news looks on the site.

Teachers at the school told us that many pupils come to class without breakfast, and that attendance drops in the weeks before harvest.

What we did

  • Cooked and served a hot lunch for all 400 pupils
  • Handed over maize and beans to last the school kitchen a full term
  • Bought two large cooking pots and energy-saving stoves

The day was paid for by members' contributions and a donation from a local business. Thirty members and partners served food, and the pupils sang for us afterwards.

What changes

The head teacher expects more children in class through the dry months, and the new stoves use about half the firewood of the old ones.

We thank the school's board, the parents who cooked alongside us, and every member who turned up with an apron.
